Paradise Found!
Chorale has always wanted to consider itself as a "bi-coastal" ensemble. And now
with the announcement of our Spring 2008 concert series, "Paradise Found," our
dream has finally come true. We will be performing in March and April in
collaboration with the Hawaii Vocal Arts Ensemble in a series of
concerts here in the Bay Area and in the distant tropical shores of the Hawaiian
islands. The centerpiece of the concert will feature both choirs joining forces
as we perform selections from the luminous Frank Martin
Mass for double choir. Also on the program, each
chorale will present selections from across the vast repertoire of choral music.
Amazing composers such as Byrd, Paulus, Durufle, and Bach will be highlighted.
Please mark your calendars for an unforgettable evening of choral masterpieces
and witness a once in a lifetime collaboration. .

The Bach Experience
The Bach Experience includes two weekends of Bach. The first weekend introduces the B minor Mass
with a master class facilitated by Helmuth Rilling. The master class
will combine a lecture facilitated by Mr. Rilling with musical
interpretation presented by the San Francisco Concert Chorale.
The focus on the Mass will provide insight to conductors, singers and
Bach enthusiasts of the significant contribution Bach has made with his
sublime masterpiece.
The second weekend features a rarely performed chamber performance of the B minor Mass,
featuring the San Francisco Concert Chorale, conducted by John Emory
Bush and accompanied by the finest musicians from orchestras throughout
the Bay Area. The performance will include the 35 member chamber choir,
soloists and orchestra. So many large choirs perform this
masterpiece, but we will present the Mass in an intimate setting that
celebrates an authentic interpretation.

Sing We and Chant - It's Christmas
It's becoming a San
Francisco tradition. People from all over the Bay Area are discovering that
there truly is no better way to usher in the joy and beauty of the Christmas
season than by being a part of one of the San Francisco Concert Chorale's
inspiring Christmas performances.
The Concert Chorale invites you to
join us for Sing We and Chant - It's Christmas. This year we
feature chant-based music - including, as in previous years, familiar favorites
and new discoveries, ancient melodies and fresh interpretations. We perform at
three outstanding Bay Area concert venues - settings that evoke the original
peace and wonder of the season.
As usual, we don't expect to do all of
the singing by ourselves. The Christmas spirit is strongest when it is shared,
so we'll be ready with a few traditional favorites for everyone - chorus and
audience - to sing together. Join the San Francisco Concert Chorale for a joyous
celebration of the Christmas season and all that it has to offer. May this music
help to bring you comfort and joy at this glorious time of year. May our voices
once again fill you with the beauty and wonder of the celebration of Christmas.

On a Still, Still Night II
We invite you to join us for On a
Still, Still Night II, our second edition of soothing, beautiful Christmas music
designed to provide joyous inspiration while easing you gracefully into the
holiday season. Like last year's performances, our concerts, in three beautiful
Bay Area locations, draw from a wide range of seasonal choral literature,
including familiar melodies, some old favorites, and some relatively unknown
pieces, as well. Each selection brings to mind the original spirit of Christmas
- peace and wonder, comfort and joy; each piece evokes the calm stillness of the
Christmas of your memory - or of your imagination. As usual, we won't expect to
do all of the singing by ourselves - so that we can all share in the spirit,
we'll have a few of the traditional favorites ready for your participation, too.
There is truly no better way to usher in the joy and beauty of this Christmas
season than by treating your loved ones and yourself to an inspirational
Christmas performance by the San Francisco Concert Chorale!

The new century begins with
a meditation on things which are beyond time. In conjunction with the Valley
Choral Society of Livermore, soloists, and accompanists, we're pleased to
present two luxuriously musical twentieth century works - Maurice Duruflé's
Requiem and Lux Aeterna by American composer Morten Lauridsen.
Duruflé's well known Requiem and Lauridsen's little-known Lux
Aeterna share a sense of aching beauty which speaks both to the human
condition and to concerns beyond this world.
